Iowa Park High School Color Guard

The award winning Iowa Park High School Color Guard and Winter Guard consists of students from all four high school grade levels. The students train as athletes to perfect their equipment skills with dance movement and marching band drills to perform an artistic depiction of the music during Fall football game halftime shows. During the Spring semester, the color guard learns a new routine for their indoor competitions.
We start color guard preparations for this class in July and end at the conclusion of football season. The marching band and color guard travel and perform at all varsity football games throughout the season and beyond. We take pride in following the football team across the state during their playoff runs. We also travel on to different contest to compete and perform on different weekends starting in September and ending in October.
The winter guard season runs from November to April. The winter guard travels to the DFW area for competitions in the NTCA circuit. We push the boundaries of winter guard and stay on the forefront of the newest trends. In contrast to the color guard season, winter guard is performed in a gymnasium to pre-recorded music. The students push their limits by performing more complex moves than the Fall through their dance and equipment.
Students must enroll in third period color guard in order to be a part of the color guard. Students who enroll in this class must have  a current physical form on file with the band office. This form must be signed by your Doctor and turned into the directors before you are allowed to participate. All students enrolled in school are allowed to join the color guard. You do not have to have previous experience to join and participate. We will find a place for any student who wishes to join.
